There are many reasons why you should repurpose your content. Today I’ll be sharing the top 6 benefits to hopefully convince you to start repurposing your content.
This is Part 2 out of 3 of the content repurposing series.
If you’re not familiar with what content repurposing is, I recommend you check out Part 1 first: What is Content Repurposing (PLUS: How Top Experts Do It)
Ready to find out what repurposing your content can do for you and your business?
Let’s get started.
1. Saves you time and energy
Tired of constantly trying to produce brand-new content?
If you’re a business owner or entrepreneur, chances are you’re wearing many hats — if not all the hats — in your business. There are more areas in your business that needs your attention apart from creating new content.
Repurposing your content can help you save time and energy because instead of creating fresh content, you take you an existing content and turn it to other forms and/or upload it to a different platform.
So even if you do it yourself, repurposing requires much less time and energy than creating brand-new content.
When you’re ready to outsource or delegate this part of your business, you won’t even be spending time or energy anymore; just money.
But it’s surely worth the investment as you’ll learn the other benefits of repurposing.
2. Increases your reach
Let’s say you normally publish videos to your YouTube channel.
You instantly increase your reach by uploading the same video to different platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
If you go the extra mile to change the form of content (example: transcribing your video and turning it into a blog post), you’re increasing your potential reach from YouTube viewers to blog readers that can find you through Google or wherever you share your blog post.
Remember that everyone consumes content in different ways.
You increase your chance of being discovered by serving your content in multiple forms distributed in different platforms.
3. Uses your “voice”
Businesses — especially personal brands (a.k.a. being the face of your business) — are skeptical of outsourcing or delegating content creation because the content may not “sound” like them.
Nobody talks about your business like you, right?
And it’s even harder when you’ve taken time to develop your “voice.”
I know some entrepreneurs who hired ghost writers only to find themselves writing again.
With repurposing, you can completely let go of this worry.
You can either slow down the production of brand-new content. Or, if you have an archive full of content, you can repurpose these contents and they will still “sound” like you.
4. Creates consistency
Repurposing your content also creates consistency in terms of showing up to your audience in various platforms.
When you repurpose content strategically, you’ll end up with multiple pieces of content at a time and it’s unwise to upload them all at once.
Not only will you tire your audience out… you could potentially create mistrust for showing up once every full moon and then disappearing again.
So what you want to do when you have multiple pieces of content ready is to space out distribution by using schedulers.
Example: You have 7 pieces of content ready to be shared. Schedule 1 content to be shared a day for the next 7 days instead of sharing them all at once.
Another reason why you want to do this on social media platforms is that their algorithms favor accounts that uploads consistently. So you’ll be increasing your organic reach more when you do this.
5. Clarifies your message
When you’re repurposing your content, you’re likely repeating the same message over and over again.
Don’t worry… it’s not bad as it sounds. In fact, it’s a great thing!
Because when you’re repurposing your content correctly, you’re presenting the same content differently by using it in a new form (example: video to blog post).
Depending on who’s consuming your content, they might not get what you’re trying to convey through your video. But when they read the same content of the video in written form through a blog post, something clicks and they eventually get what your message.
And when you do upload the exact same thing, they’ll be on another platform anyway (example: uploading the same video on YouTube and Facebook).
6. Establishes you as an expert
When you show up consistently to your audience with a clear message, you’ll be known as a go-to person for whatever your message is.
For example, I was confused on how to get started on using Instagram for marketing and so I was looking up relevant hashtags for it.
One day, a very helpful post appeared on my Explore tab (thank you, algorithm!) so I checked out that person’s Instagram account and found more valuable posts.
I’m now a follower and whenever I have questions about Instagram marketing, I’d check their feeds if they have any answers for it.
They became my go-to person for anything-Instagram.
You can be someone’s go-to person in your niche too, and repurposing will help you get there.
Conclusion
